Year 9 and 10 Students Visit Barcelona

spanishtrip1Clyst Vale had an amazing but intensive week sight-seeing in Barcelona.

On the last week of the summer term, 33 students from Years 9 and 10 accompanied by Mr Jones, Mr O’Brien, Miss Ashby and Miss Madden went to Barcelona, probably the most exciting and diverse city in the whole of Spain. We left Broadclyst village on a dull and rainy Sunday morning  and travelled by coach through France to sunny Catalonia.  The journey was demanding but well worth it.

We crammed a lot into our 3 days. We visited the Olympic stadium, Gaudí’s Parc Guell and of course  the home of Barcelona FC, the Camp Nou stadium; for Mr O’Brien this was the highlight of the trip.  Elliott Barrowcliffe even managed to get a personal tour of the luxurious changing rooms but was disappointed not to meet Lionel Messi.

Day 2 took us to Figueras where we visited Dalí’s weird and wonderful art gallery and museum and then we got the opportunity to relax in the seaside town of Tossa del Mar for a bit of souvenir shopping and sunshine. On the last morning we strolled down the most famous street in Barcelona, Las Ramblas, where we saw the human statues, the bird market and the port.  All students agreed that the trip was very enjoyable and some are hoping to return to Spain with the College in 2012.
