Year 7 students are preparing to blast off in their English lessons.  Classes have begun working on their first topic – Space.  The unit involves reading a range of science fiction texts such as the work of Isaac Asimov and HG Wells.  Y7s will also be expected to write in the science fiction style.  The unit of work also requires students to take part in a speaking and listening assessment similar to Dragons’ Den where they have to pitch their space craft prototype to the rest of their peers.  Students have produced some amazing prototypes so far with lights, whole interior eco systems and launch pads as part of the design.  If NASA are looking for engineers of the future they should make a detour to Dog Village!
