Sports Award Evening a Winner

The Sports Awards Evening held on Tuesday 29 May was brilliant.  Guest of Honour Mike Mullarkey, the FIFA Assistant Referee (who will soon be seen at Euro 2012), gave a truly inspirational speech based on his career so far, which contained many lessons for life.  The stars of the show were the students, however.  We have had a good year in sport, with some notable wins, and students playing representative sport at district, County, regional and even national level.  However, just as importantly, my PE colleagues were keen to recognise and celebrate the true values of sport: behaving well as representatives of the College, accepting defeat with good grace, demonstrating leadership and teamwork skills, being honest and hard-working, showing loyalty to the team, and enjoying sport for its own sake.
