Sandy Washes Out Washington Trip
During half-term, Superstorm Sandy’s massive impact on the East Coast of the USA meant that for some days flights were cancelled, and our Post-16 Politics trip to Washington had to be postponed. Clearly, a weather event of this seriousness, with 50+ deaths, 40 million homes without power and 250,000 cars damaged meant that it was unsafe to travel. So the Clyst Vale party had a return visit to Heathrow Terminal 5 and a night in a Travelodge: the maturity, good sense and attitude of our students, although bitterly disappointed, was fantastic. Mrs Padden described it as “the best non-trip I’ve ever been on”. It is hoped to reschedule for the Spring Term.
