In Memory of Mr Jorden 1924-2013
Mr Arthur Jorden visited Clyst Vale many times from his home in Vancouver. At his memorial service in September his friends and relatives decided to write a thank you card to the staff and students at Clyst Vale. This card, which is pictured on the left, arrived at the weekend. Some of the comments include “Arthur LOVED his time with the students, sharing his stories and his wisdom”, “His stories and the joy he felt about the school were the best”, “Thanks is not enough to say for all the love you gave to Arthur. Your cards and well wishes meant such a lot to him” and “I will always remember Arthur’s stories about the school and how much he enjoyed his time with you”.
Arthur’s travel agent went to the memorial service and commented on how much Arthur looked forward to each visit to us in Devon. It is my intention to hold a memorial event and plant a Canadian Sugar Maple Tree in the grounds of Clyst Vale in his memory. Many staff and students have already expressed a wish to be part of this.
