A Level Politics Group Visit the House of Commons!
On Monday 4th July the A level politics group went to the House of Commons. We met Simon Jupp MP for East Devon. Former student Katherine Stagg now works in his office (after completing a degree in Politics at the University of London) We had tickets to the House of Commons gallery. We watched questions to the Education Secretary, (at the time Nadhim Zahawi.
We then noticed a buzz in the chamber as more MPs arrived. MP Boris Johnson came into the chamber to tell MPs about his recent trip to a NATO summit and the G7 meeting. Fortunate timing for us as it was one of the last appearances in the Commons for Johnson as PM, he resigned just 3 days later.
Katherine gave us a wonderful tour of the Common’s Committee rooms and we met the newly elected Richard Foord, Liberal Democrat MP for Tiverton and Honiton.
The students all had a great day and were a brilliant group of students to take on a trip of this sort.
