Duke of Edinburgh Award Update

We’re very proud of all our students participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, on all 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold! 

Together they’ve contributed 312 hours volunteering in the local community with a social value of £1500 – the students involved have learned and experienced a huge amount through their volunteering and the organisations they’ve helped with have benefited too.  From charity shops to churches, dance clubs to after school clubs, to park runs and Scouts/Guides + more!  Some students have also helped run clubs in school for other students, or helped look after the school library books, or for Gold and Post-16 students some have offered support in timetabled lessons for years 7-11.  So all very worthy causes – we hope the students have been a great help and hopefully many will continue with their volunteering too after their DofE Award is complete. 

Students participating in the DofE Award this year are also busy uploading evidence, log sheets and assessor comments to the eDofE online system – so hopefully some Awards will be complete very soon and then we can start awarding the certificates and badges!  Would be great to see lots of Awards signed off and approved by the end of the school year. 

Next week sees the Silver Assessed expedition taking place in Dorset and then end of June its time for the Gold Practice expedition on Exmoor – fingers crossed the nice weather stays for those!
