Clyst Vale – A Gold Rights Respecting School
As a Rights Respecting School one of our aims is to ensure our students understand what it means to be Global Citizens. One of the ways we promote students taking an active role is through charity events such as non-uniform days and year group fundraising. In the Summer Term we were able to raise money for both The Donkey Sanctuary and for Force Cancer. Through the Year 9’s fundraising efforts last year they raised an impressive £815.36 and this collective effort demonstrates our commitment to supporting our local community. Our students are able to see the impact their actions have, and they know by participating in events such as these they are showing what it means to be a Global Citizen.
On Friday 25th October we held our whole school Non-Uniform day for Force Cancer which was chosen by our students from across the College.
This week students are learning more about the protected characteristics through our Diversity Week event. Each morning students are having a tutorial input around different characteristics and will then have an opportunity to carry this discussion through into their first lesson with their teachers. This is an incredibly important opportunity for students to understand more about the world we live in and to learn about rights which directly affect them. There will also be some whole school activities for students to participate in throughout the week. At lunchtime today students had the opportunity to make their own Pride Flags.
