Under 16 Girls Rugby @ Colyton Grammar School 7s (Runners-up)

Congratulations to all of the girls who represented the College on Monday afternoon at Colyton Grammar School. The girls finished eventual runners up losing in the final to a talented Kings School, however the rate of improvement throughout the afternoon was vast.

Placed in a group of 3, between ourselves, Stover School and Kings School, we beat the former 25-10, with a 30-5 loss to latter despite scoring first. This meant we had a semi-final against the winners of Group A (Exmouth Community College) and the girls pulled out all of the stops to win the game by 25-20. In the final against Kings School, the girls adapted their play brilliantly and again led twice but ended up succumbing to the pace of the Kings School side and losing the game by 25-15.

The side, led by Jess who scored several tries by using her pace on the edges of the pitch competed very strongly throughout the day, despite the cold conditions! Grace C-F and Savannah were rock solid in their contact and go forward skills and gave us a great platform to play off with Lois an ever threat at half back with some outstanding tackles and was awarded (by the girls themselves) the player of the day! Maisy-Beau kept attack after attack flowing and showed her physicality throughout with Isla V-HB very strong in her contact skills, too.
Freya continued to develop her rugby and contact skills with some strong running and handling play with Karly linking good attack with strong handling. Alissia showed her strength in great rucking and tackling, with Grace A an ever threat on the wing with great pace and bravery. Bethan and Willow performed with great pace and endeavour in the backline with Sophia adding her finesse to the attacks. Vanessa was physical in the contact with Maggie being a key player int he backline, too.

Congratulations to all of the girls who represented the College outstandingly well both on and off the field. A big thanks to Ms Morgan who came along to watch and take the photos!

The girls have a well earned break from school rugby until the Wednesday after half term where preparations will continue to the National Schools Rosslyn Park 7s in London in March.
